THE MOTHERS OF RINKEBY

A documentary film about a group of Somali supermums who patrol the streets of Stockholm’s infamous suburb of Rinkeby to prevent crime and inspire a generation of youth. Am I Danish?

A documentary film about Ibrahim El-Hassan and his fight against Denmark’s Ghetto Laws.

“It affects me that Denmark, which I love and care about, punishes me because of the family I was born into,” says 19-year-old Ibrahim el-Hassan. El-Hassan was born in Denmark, but is considered a “non-Western descendant”.

He grew up in Vollsmose, a suburb classified by authorities as a “hard ghetto”. When the Danish government introduces its “ghetto package” of laws, El-Hassan decides to defend his neighbourhood. Armed with social media and a petition, he begins a summer of protests which eventually take him to the halls of Denmark’s Parliament.

IMBORRABLE

A feature documentary about a damned short film:

Jorge Rivera says: “Twenty years ago we wanted to make a movie. We recorded at Cortijo Jurado, a house that has a reputation for being damned, and from then on everything went wrong for us. In the end, the film did not come out and years later, it reached my ears in Denmark, where I lived, that a whole (urban) legend had arisen around the short.

I thought about telling my vision, and seeing if all these stories could have some truth, exploring the borders between science and belief with experts in Anthropology, Psychology, Heterodoxy, cinema, and Lovecraft. Because the short was a Lovecraft story, and because the story that happened to us had Lovecraftian overtones … What if there was something asleep in the house and we had woken it up.”
